Project summary:
In the last years, the applying of the enzymatic products in the textile finishing gained a higher importance, these products representing an alternative for the chemical products used in various conventional technologic finishing processes. The modern genetics created new types enzymes with high specificity and purity, which offer new domains of usage. From this point of view, the enzymes represent an alternative for the conventional chemical products used in various technologic processes, from the following reasons:
– they are synthesized from non-pathogenic micro-organisms existing in nature ;
– wastes that result after the synthesis process can be used as organic fertilizer;
– they are biodegradable, easy to be divided, without polluting wastes
The project is thus justifying by the approached themes and the envisaged objectives, the environment pollution reducing by applying biotechnologies for the preliminary preparation, the final dyeing and finishing of the textile materials made of natural fibers, respectively.

General objective: improveing the environmental indicators using different bio-technologies approach for preparation, dyeing and finishing of textile materials from natural fibers

Specific objectives:
• To investigate the effectiveness of enzimes on the removal of impurity from fibres by using pectinase, protease, cellulase and their mixture in the biopreparation;
• To study the optimal treating conditions of biotech-treatment that will assure the adequate quality of textiles;
• To compare the effectiveness of biotechnologies in accordance to conventional treatments;
• To evaluate the impact of fibers biopreparation on their sorption properties and dyeability and consecutively on dye reduction in the dye-bath wastewaters;
• To evaluate the impact of used biotechnologies on structural properties and possible damages of fibres;
• To investigate the possibility of combination and optimization of some finishing precesses;
• To evaluate the ecological parameters of the residual effluents from pre-treatment, dyeing and finishing by means of measuring BOD, COD, TOC, AOX, nitrogen content, etc;
• To estimate the improving of environmental indicators by comparison of different conventional and biotechnology treatments’ results with emphasis on technological, economical and quality aspects;
• To investigate transfer possibility of the most efficient bio-treatment into small or medium textile enterprises.

Estimated results for being obtained:
• Development of fundamental and applicative knowledge in the field of biotechnology treatments for natural textile materials;
• Promoting the biotechnologies in textile industries of both collaborating countries;
• Reduction of wastewater pollution in textile industry;
• Cost reduction for wastewater treatments;
• Reduction of water and energy consumption;
• Decrease of ecological parameters in wastewater (COD, BOD, total slurry);
• Publishing of articles in specialized magazines recognized at national and international level;
• Papers presented at national and international sympoziums and conferences.

Accomplishing of executions phases:
1. Experiments and applications of the finishing biotechnologies of the textile materials made of natural fibers
2. The evaluation of the experimented biotechnology efficiency, by physical-mechanical and physical-chemical analyses of the textile materials enzymatically treated
3. The evaluation of the experimented biotechnology impact over the environment

Accomplishing of activities planned in the project implementation plan:
Research activities:
1. Laboratory experiments with enzymatic products. The study of the specific analysis methods
2. The analyzing of the experimented biotechnology performances by specific laboratory analyses
3. The analyzing of the waste water indicators
